"These commandments that I give you today are to be
upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when
you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and
when you get up." Deuteronomy 6:6-7
Our children's ministries focus on teaching children about the
importance of God in their lives. If we establish the pattern early on,
their faith will be strong and it will help guide them not only through
the challenging parts of their lives, but they will learn of their gifts
and talents as God intended.
Crib & Crawler: Infants to age two
The Crib & Crawler is supervised by an experienced staff member.
It is a safe environment for your child, allowing you to attend worship
worry free. Parents of children in the Crib & Crawler are encouraged
to sign up and help on a rotation schedule throughout the year.
Church School: K3 - grade five
The curriculum used is Hands on Bible (K3-5th grade). Lessons are
hands-on, including several activity options. Teachers are recruited,
trained and each one has successfully completed a reference check to
comply with our child safety policy.
Children begin in the Sanctuary with their families each week, giving
them an opportunity to be introduced to worship. Younger children (at
parents' discretion) are dismissed to "Godly Fun" in Fellowship Hall
after The Lord's Prayer. Older children remain in worship.
Additional Programming
Special programs including children on Sunday morning include: Church
School, Children's Choir, the presentation of Bibles to our 3rd grade
students, Christmas and Mother's Day pageants. Other special programming
includes Kid's Club (seasonal Wednesday evening program, concurrent with
Adult Education offering), Sunday afternoon Pilgrim Group (PG), and a
monthly Family Movie Night at Church. A weekend family camp (in lodges)
has been enjoyed by the families of the Church.
Benevolence
Each Sunday an offering will be taken in the classroom or in church.
The church school benevolence supports two children through Compassion
International. Our sponsorship includes the chance to be pen pals. In
addition to the weekly offerings, we have special benevolence projects
throughout the program year as well.
Children's Choir
All children in first grade and above are encouraged to join the
children's choir. Rehearsals are held during the latter portion of the
10:30 a.m. worship, 10:50 - 11:30 a.m. The children's choir sings various Sundays in the 10:30 a.m.
worship.
Acolytes
Children in grades three and above are welcome to participate as
acolytes for our 10:30 a.m. worship. They are guided by the Director of
Children's Ministries in bringing the light of God into the Sanctuary
before worship and taking the light out into the world after worship.
Liturgist
On the third Sunday of each month, a fifth grade child has the
opportunity to lead the congregation in the Call to Worship.
