Lent 2012 Diaper Drive
During the Lenten season we are holding a diaper and baby wipe drive to benefit the residents at Joy House which is affiliated with the Milwaukee Rescue Mission. Joy House serves homeless women with children by providing both short and long-term solutions. Often these women are fleeing domestic violence or facing job loss, fire or basic poverty, any of which leaves them nowhere else to turn. They offer residency, training programs, child care and educational programs to help families become self-sufficient and stable. By providing diapers and wipes to these families who often don't have access to laundry facilities or sometimes even bathrooms we can help alleviate some of the stresses that the homeless families must overcome. We will provide bins at each door to deposit your offering during lent. Please give generously throughout Lent to this worthy cause.
Harvest Haul for the Hunger Task Force - September 25, 2011
A study conducted during the summer of 2011 shows that one of every six Americans has needed to use a food pantry this year, and with children the number jumps to one in four. NSCC helped stock our local food pantries by bringing non-perishable items to the "Invitation Celebration" on September 25. We beat our old records and made the food bins overflow!!! Congratulations we collected 1500 pounds! We gave an additional 157 pounds over the 2010 Harvest Hall.
